I became clear again as I explained to Karen and Woon why I ‘tolerated’ James’ coaching and way of being with me on occasions when he seems harsh.
I am in training and I don’t tell the coach how he should behave in training me. I am prepared to go through toughness to learn something.
I think James is just being a mirror of how people really feel inside of them but they don’t show it. So if I want to know the effect my actions have on people, he is best person to reflect that.
In this business, I choose who I want to follow and I have chosen, therefore, I will not go and start judging my coach and telling myself how he should behave.

- I have a passion for coaching that comes from my vision to create a world filled with empowering and caring leaders. I have been coaching since 2002, with experience facilitating leadership programmes for AsiaWorks; through the coaching programmes developed by XL Results Foundation; using the system by Results Coaching Systems: and with The Works Partnership. I started my career as a civil engineer doing design and construction. In 1995, at age 41, I left to set up my own financial planning practice with IPP Financial Advisers Pte Ltd. In 2001, I also started a business as an international distributor for Nu Skin Entreprises where I hold the highest title of Team Elite. I have a PhD in civil engineering from Auckland University. I also have a Masters in Applied Finance from the National University of Singapore. I hold the designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). I hold the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in a Guards National Service unit and was the 1995 Singapore Armed Forces National Serviceman of the Year. I live in Singapore and am married with two sons (21 and 19) and a daughter (17) all of whom find me a challenge to coach.
